Tracy Frost's distinctive style blends raw, industrial elements with delicate, fluid textures, creating a powerful and intimate visual language. Her mixed media approach incorporates construction adhesives, acrylic paint, and glazes to craft deeply textured surfaces that invite tactile exploration.
Metallics, particularly gold and copper, symbolise warmth and resilience, contrasting with darker tones to create dynamic light and shadow interplay. Tracy employs layering and impasto techniques to build texture, giving her work a three-dimensional quality. Her use of glazes adds an ethereal dimension, allowing light to reveal hidden depths. Each piece reflects her belief in art's power to explore both beauty and turmoil, offering a path to understanding and healing.

Inspiration and Influences
Tracy's art is deeply rooted in the raw beauty of Australia's landscapes - as well as that of the wider world - where rugged vistas and turbulent seas reflect the human experience. Her work is also inspired by dystopian visions, such as those in "Blade Runner," which brutally explore the human condition in a dark extrapolation of our world. These influences drive her to create art that invites viewers to contemplate the resilience and chaos within us. Her art is a powerful meditation on endurance and the beauty found in chaos.
In Her Own Words:
My work is mixed media featuring heavily textured stone gestures, emerging from an untraceable impulse. Each piece is a large-scale abstract monolith with enigmatic depths, demanding the most profound introspection. The rugged surfaces articulate primal, subterranean truths, as if unearthed from the depths of the unconscious.
My work often 'creates itself' in response to a vivid emotion or experience; a tough conversation, a jarring phrase heard in passing. Something that strikes a deep chord in me, that resonates and causes the work to ripple to the surface. Designed to command consideration, my work thrives in commercial spaces, especially those with an industrial, modern or minimalist tone. These environments thrust the texture of my art forward, creating a stark and engaging contrast. In dimly lit niches, a single spotlight can carve meaning from the shadows, much like our inner most thoughts and feelings can be laid bare in a single moment.
The interplay of shadow and texture demands contemplation; my art does not confront but challenges, pulling viewers into a dialogue with their own existential depths. It is not obnoxious or brash; rather, it commands a reckoning with oneself on the most primal level, pushing viewers to consider their own notions without imposing a forgone conclusion. As if to say “ultimately, it’s up to you.”
