The Story of Obelisk VIII : Fractured Horizon
In “Obelisk VIII : Fractured Horizon,” I delve into the timeless dialogue between permanence and transience, drawing inspiration from ancient monoliths that stand as silent witness to the passage of epochs. This piece, part of my ongoing Obelisk series, employs layered textures of deep, earthen greys and browns to evoke the rugged façade of weathered stone, interrupted by a slender horizon of burnished gold threads that fracture the composition like veins of forgotten ore or cryptic inscriptions from a lost civilisation.
Through impasto-like techniques and subtle metal accents, I explore themes of hidden depths and subtle disruptions – reminders that even the most stoic structures bear the marks of time’s inexorable flow. This work invites viewers to contemplate the interplay of shadow and light, where the fractured line symbolises not breakage, but the emergence of underlying narratives waiting to be unearthed.
